Kiosk Health Care

Image
Kiosk Health Care (KHC)  About Us In the US, people without medical insurance has continuously increased due to high prices, inflation rates, and other reasons-- from 2019 to 2021, about 1.5 million people became uninsured (KFF, 2). Additionally, there are numerous people who leave their medical conditions untreated because they lack access to medical attention which cannot be quantifiable.   Telehealth: the use of telecommunication technology to provide health care.  Over the summer, Allison Kim, the founder of KHC, was researching ways to resolve this issue. One idea that came across her desk was the usage of telehealth. COVID-19 increased telehealth's popularity and so she looked further into  it. Telehealth seemed to be a giant step towards everyone having access to health care. However, there was one issue: not everyone could access telehealth because they lacked the technology, privacy, or the internet. After many brainstorming sessions and research,...

World We Imagine Part 1

I think one way I can contribute to making the world better would be to increase a business’ shared value since I am a business student who will likely work to increase a business’ profit margins.   Creating Shared Value (CSV) is a business strategy that aims to create economic value for a company while also addressing social and environmental issues. CSV goes beyond other approaches like Corporate Social Responsibility and focuses on creating sustainable business practices that address societal issues in a way that also generates economic value for the company. Because there are multiple benefits, CSV creates long-term solutions that address the root of societal problems.   For example, a company could improve its supply chain to reduce waste and emissions while also improving efficiency and reducing costs. This would be by clustering a business’ supply chain in one location.   CSV is based on the belief that businesses have a moral obligation to its stakeh...

Lately, I have immersed myself in music and have been replaying albums or certain artists at all times. This is probably because I have had to study a lot in the past couple of days and drove to Mammoth Mountain. And so, the only thing on my mind besides credits and debits (accounting) or case studies has been what I have been listening to.  Welcome to what has recently been playing in my ears or crossed my brain: Okay, I know that country music is not for everyone, but I am a proud country music listener. I love the story-telling style of the lyrics and the more overall wholesome vibe. Luckily, my two favorite country artists just released albums: Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs. Not only did they drop albums, but Morgan Wallen's album has 36 songs and Luke Comb's album has 18 songs. This is a very unusual amount of songs on one album.  Despite the lengthy albums, I have listened to both albums nonstop. I will listen to the albums when I work out, grocery shop, or even study. I ...

Book 2 Post 2

For my second book, I read "The Wayfinders" by Wade Davis. This book followed many different cultures. Davis analyzed each culture and wrote about their unique perspectives to find the fundamental likeness of humans and answer the question: what does it mean to be human and alive?  At first, it was hard to read. I felt like I was reading a history book because he included an enormous amount of detail about everything. It felt like he described every thought process he experienced during his analysis of every culture. Also, it was a hard read for me because his diction is very different from mine. It did not feel like we were having a conversation. Instead, I had to think more to understand what he was trying to convey. As I kept reading though, it got better. I understood why he explained his thought process so meticulously. He had to explain because the reader would get lost without guidance. For example, he described how you can learn a lot about a culture through analyzin...

Book 2 Post 1

I started reading The Wayfinders: Why Ancient Wisdom Matters in the Modern World  by Wade Davis This book is about answering the fundamental question: What does it mean to be human and alive? Wade Davis answers this by examining different cultures and perspectives of life. It is a unique approach, but one that makes sense after reading his explanations. It finds similarities between different cultures.   I chose this book because I thought it would be interesting to learn about different cultures and how they lived. This book reads like a history book. It gives the facts and reasonings which I appreciate. The formal organization of the book defines a clear direction and helps me understand what Davis is trying to portray. I have already learned about new cultures that I was unaware of. For example, he talks about the first group of humans on earth who he refers to as the trunk of humanity and the different races are like different branches. Learning about them helps explai...

AMDP Proposal

February 28, 2023 TO: Professor Clark Hansen, CEO, AMDP FROM: Allison Kim SUBJECT: Investment opportunity—Sweet Green & Beyond Meat   Summary:   In search for investment opportunities that satisfy AMDP standards, I have found a company that is popularly known for being environmentally friendly: Beyond Meat. Beyond Meat is a food processing company that produces plant-based protein options. They provide food without compromising nutritional or environmental benefits. Beyond Meat seems to meet AMDP’s standards, but after further review, I am recommending withholding investment until further notice.   AMDP Standards: As a reminder, these are the standards I used to identify investments that AMDP would approve of:   -        Triple Bottom Line (TBL) The Triple Bottom Line measures a company based off three variables: o    Prosperity: It measures the financial and sustainable growth...

What is Lent? This week, Lent started. Lent occurs about 2 months before Easter Sunday and is a period that is dedicated to repentance and reflection. During Lent, you fast and when it gets hard, you experience what Jesus felt during the time leading up to His crucifixion. For those who do not know, before Good Friday—the day of His crucifixion—Jesus fasted and was tempted by Satan. Fasting is supposed to make you thankful for His sacrifice and admire His strength towards avoiding temptation.   My Journey Lent is always hard for me because I set hard goals. For example, one year, I gave up red meat and ice cream—which was the entirety of my diet. While it is hard, I appreciate Lent because it makes me excited for Easter and understand the holiday beyond bunnies and eggs.   During the first part of this past week, I was searching for something new to give up. I typically stick to food items because it is easy to remember like chocolate. However, I realized that I do...
